Nokia’s General Manager of XU Pei-ching, Taiwan, said today that the company will accelerate the pace of Symbian platform, plans to release the third quarter, supports multi-touch features Symbian 3, the end of this year or early next year release Symbian 4.
According to foreign media reports, industry sources said, Symbian 4 will be based on Trolltech’s Qt cross-platform development application development framework. Nokia in June 2008 acquisition of Trolltech. The source said, Qt will allow software developers to support both Symbian and Maemo development platform for applications.
XU Pei-ching, said that Nokia will continue to produce using Maemo platform for mobile computing devices, with Symbian S60 smart phones and Symbian S40 platform using ordinary mobile phones, including Symbian S60 handset prices this year will be very competitive.
It is understood that Nokia’s product development plans informed sources said that by 2011, Symbian S60 smart phones will account for all Nokia’s mobile phone sales 55%, Symbian S40 mobile phones will account for 35%, Maemo products will account for 10%. Nokia has been on the market in Taiwan released the E72 business smartphone. E72 supports multiple e-mail services such as Ovi mail, Yahoo Mail, Windows Live Hotmail and Gmail.
